The Clinical Science Specialist (CSS) is responsible for providing fair balanced, objective, scientific information and appropriate product education to health care professionals (HCPs) in compliance with all policies and regulations. She/he must be recognized as having advanced clinical knowledge in cardiovascular/ metabolic disease states. The CSS may also serve as a therapeutic resource to internal business partners as required by business needs. The CSS is responsible for building external relationships with HCPs within the CSS territory, with the ability to identify and address scientific communication needs and stay abreast of the current scientific trends.

Job Duties & Responsibilities: *Execute approved field scientific communication plan under the direction of therapeutic area leadership and Field/Scientific Directors. Provide appropriate scientific information to HCPs and other key healthcare stakeholders using approved scientific content. *Maintains and utilizes expert clinical knowledge and highly effective communication skills. *Provide clear, informative, fair-balanced and compliant response to medical information requests from healthcare professionals. *May participate in approved scientific outreach programs to solicit opinion leader guidance. *Develop externally focused culture: solicit and synthesize external medical and scientific opinions to derive superior customer insight and drive thought leader engagement and partnership. *Act as medical and subject area expert to specific indications and/or products and/or activities to internal and external stakeholders. *Establishes and maintains effective communication /cooperation/coordination with all counterparts as appropriate. *Effectively operates within all SOPs

Job Requirements:*Clinical Degree required. *BSN, RN with a 4 year degree, PA, NP, PharmD, RPh preferred. *Preferred clinical license in good standing.*Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience, having significant experience working with health care practitioners. *Advanced knowledge in Cardiovascular and/or Metabolic therapeutic area. *Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with internal partners in a matrix setting are required. *Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with key opinion leaders, health authority, payers and other external stakeholders preferred. *Working knowledge of drug development and regulatory approval processes preferred. *Working knowledge of US health care systems and customers; specifically understanding business models and perspectives of managed care, long term care, public sector payers preferred. *Direct experience in customer facing roles such as clinical educator, medical science liaison, health economic coordinator, or similar role is preferred. *Demonstrated capability for scientific, creative and strategic thinking, and an ability to present and maintain fair-balance during scientific discussions/presentations. *Excellent project management skills required. *Excellent skills in collaboration, influencing and communication (both written and oral presentation) required. *Must be willing and able to travel approx. 75% travel within the region, including some overnight travel. Other travel for business meetings as required. Seeking Experienced NP/PA for ICU (Cardiac/Neuro) - Instructor/NP or PA This is a Faculty position. Schedule Varies; 1.0 FTE; Salary Range: $95K - $138K. This position will provide patient care in a care team model in the Cardiovascular/Neuro Intensive Care Unit. The ICU is a 26-bed sate of the art critical care unit admitted critical ill patients. A critical care trained physician in close collaboration with a primary service physician attending directs the care in the ICU. The appointee works in partnership with faculty physicians, fellows and residents to provide excellent clinical care and customer services to patients; works in conjunction with physician faculty and OHSU leadership to provide services to further the University’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, and public service as well as the department’s/hospital’s goal of providing effective, efficient care.

The Advanced Practice Provider rounds on patients in the ICU on a daily basis with faculty, fellows, residents; develops/implements, in conjunction with faculty physicians, clinical plans of care and/or protocols for patients with common conditions/diagnoses/procedures; educates house staff and nursing unit staff on these protocols, with the goal of enhancing quality of care, enhancing quality of patient services, and decreasing patient length of stay; participates with hospital/unit staff in evaluating results of these protocols and continually improving effectiveness of same; works actively with hospital and unit staff to rapidly develop and implement discharge plans for patients in the ICU and to address length of stay issues; promotes health of patients in the ICU through the use of ancillary services, educational materials, and counseling of patients and families.
