Description
This position will provide patient care in a care team model in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. The appointee works in partnership with faculty physicians, fellows and residents to provide excellent clinical care and customer services to patients in the Cardiac ICU. The position works in conjunction with faculty and OHSU leadership to provide services to further the University's missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, and public service as well as the departments/hospitals goal of providing effective, efficient care. This position will work cooperatively with nursing staff to provide education, continuity, and quality improvement initiatives. The Nurse Practitioner is an independent practitioner (LIP), certified through the Oregon State Board of Nursing and authorized to practice within the parameters described in Division 50 of the Oregon Nurse Practice Act (Oregon Revised Statue Chapter 678). The NP is credentialed by the Medical Board of OHSU to practice in the hospital setting and to perform such procedures as authorized by the Medical Board. The NP is authorized to prescribe medications according to the Oregon State Board of Nursing Formulary for Nurse Practitioner. The Physicians Assistant is licensed with the Oregon Medical Board and requires a practice description submitted by their OHSU supervising physician in order to practice at OHSU. The Physicians Assistant is credentialed by the Medical Board of OHSU to practice in the hospital setting and to perform such procedures as authorized by the Medical Board.
Qualifications
Requirements include a Masters Degree in Nursing or Masters in Science/Physicians Assistants; ability to multi-task and prioritize; ability to work as a team member in an interdisciplinary setting; effective communications in both verbal, written and electronic media; proficiency in using computers and word processing; current Oregon NP license ANCC Board Certification as a Nurse Practitioner in the specific area of specialization Prescriptive Authority (DEA License) Nurse Practitioner Core Competencies or a current Oregon PA license. Preferred qualifications include 3-5 years nursing experience in area of specialization (can be as a staff RN); 3-5 years of PA experience in cardiac specialty or ICU; skills in using computerized patient medical records; and patient care experience in neurocritical care or in other critical care settings.

This unit is staffed 24/7 and this position will share equitably night, weekend and holiday shifts. Shift length varies from 12-14 hours depending on shift assignment. Work is primarily performed on the 8C-ICU, with some work being done on other units depending upon where patients are placed. May be exposed to excessive auditory and visual stimulation. May be exposed to body fluids, tissue, possible radiation exposure, and infectious processes. Subject to computer work for several hours, as needed. Able to utilize all patient care equipment and office equipment within work area. Standing: On concrete, vinyl or carpeting up to 8 hours per day and intermittently. Sitting: Chair or stool intermittently up to 4 hours per day. Changing Positions: Intermittently as needed. Walking: Intermittently while providing rounds, talking with patients and their families. Carrying: Up to 50 pounds for intermittent periods and distances. Lifting: Up to 50 pounds (patients, equipment, supplies, books, etc) intermittent throughout the day. Pushing/Pulling: Up to 100 pounds, intermittent, throughout the day. Bending: From the waist and knees, frequently throughout the day. Reaching/handling: Fine manipulation, repetitive, gross motor requiring full ROM in upper extremities including overhead reaching. Twisting: All ROM required, intermittent periods, throughout the day. Climbing: Staircase, intermittently throughout the day, Crawling: Infrequent but possible on vinyl and carpet surface.

This is a moderately-paced clinic with a potential patient panel of approximately 1000. This position would be a 4 day work week with an average of 15-20 patients being seen daily. Physician Assistant Opening - Department of Neurological Surgery, Oregon Health and Science University, Portlan, Oregon
The Physician Assistant for the Skull base Division in the Department of Neurosurgery should posssess specialized knowledge and skills in the care of patients with skull base tumor (acoustic neuromas, pituitary tumors), cerebral aneurysms, brain tumors and spinal disorders.
Overall responsibilities include accountability for planning, coordination, and delivery of clinical services in both outpatient and inpatient settings. Primary responsibilities include assessing established patients, during inpatient hospitalizations, including daily rounds, the ordering and interpretation of diagnostic labs and studies, interfacing with a multi-disciplinary team including consulting physicians/PAs/NPs, nursing, and rehab services. This position is also responsible for the care of patients in the outpatient setting including evaluation of both new patients and follow-ups and the completion of pre-operative assessments; triaging calls, prescription refill management, and care coordination . Other duties include patient education, participation in quality improvement activities, program development, staff development, and provision of education and community outreach. This position will complement a second Skull base PA offering coverage in the hospital and the clinic on a rotating basis. This PA functions in a collaborative manner to ensure effective and timely communication with the patient, family and other providers. The PA reports to the Division Chair.
Qualifications: Prior work experience in both inpatient and outpatient environments. Neurosurgical experience and experience with neuro-endocrine and spine disorders highly preferred. Highly effective communication skills in a variety of collaborative settings with ability to multi-task; demonstrated ability to work as a team, and provision of excellent customer service/clinical care. Graduate of an accredited PA institution. Licensed by the State of Oregon Board of Medical Examiners. DEA certification, CPR certification, and NCCPA certification required.

PA needed for Family Medicine Practice
Practice size is currently two physicians and two PAs. Need one family medicine PA. Full time, employed position, 2 yrs experience as a physician assistant required, about 4 ½ days a week, 8 hours a day. See about 25 to 30 patients a day (not to start with), no OB.
Call rotation: 1:10 for hospital call, phone calls only, no hospital work. Evening call once a week. Clinic is open Saturday mornings for 3 hours; rotation for this is 1:5.

We are seeking a Physician Assistant (PA) or a Nurse Practitioner (NP) for a unique part-time opportunity to fill one weekend of call/month with the potential for more if desired. This position involves care of crew members aboard ships serving cargo terminals along the Willamette and Columbia Rivers. Duties range in scope from urgent care to primary care.
