PA Sought for OHSU Neurological Surgery - The OHSU Neurosurgery Department in Portland, Oregon is seeking a full time Physician Assistant to join our growing group of seven Physician Assistants and four Nurse Practitioners. The position is four-days per week (10 hour day shifts), no call, no holidays. Eventual infrequent inpatient weekend coverage will be required. This is an excellent opportunity to work as a faculty member in a major academic institution and Certified Stroke Center. The candidate will participate in the multi-disciplinary management of patients in conjunction with the Neurosurgical attending, residents, nursing staff, case management, and rehabilitation team. This advanced practice provider role involves: • Medically managing adult medicine inpatients • Medically managing adult medicine consultant inpatients, including glucose management • Performance of selected procedures • Promoting an integrated and interdisciplinary approach to patient care • Assuring effective and efficient patient flow • Partnering with case managers on discharge planning and efficiently discharging patients under the guidance of the supervising physician • Educating patients and families throughout the stay. • Using best practice clinical protocols and guidelines to achieve optimal patient outcomes • Supporting attendings and other advanced practice providers within the Division, as well as other staff including nursing, pharmacy and physical/occupational therapy.
