Instructor/Physician Assistant - This position will work in conjunction with faculty and residents of the Department of Urology to support both inpatient and outpatient clinical services. He/she will provide surgical assistance for robotic surgery cases, work with the resident team to support the care of urology inpatients and see in-hospital consultations to the urology service. The appointee will also provide outpatient care for postoperative urology patients. He/she with work in conjunction with the Department Chair to provide the highest level of clinical care and customer service and to further the OHSU’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care and public service.
The duties of this position include: * Operating room assistant duties (50%): Providing operating room and assistance for robotic surgical cases, and open surgical cases as necessary. This duty includes prompt and professional communication efforts, face-to-face customer contact skills, crisis management, use of available information technology and continuous application of process improvement methods and skills. Working with Department Chair, faculty and OHSU representatives to ensure staff and faculty adherence to departmental and OHSU customer service standards; * Inpatient responsibilities (30%): Providing inpatient care and follow-up of assigned patients from OR to admission, and through discharge. Includes, but is not limited to: rounding on a daily basis with the faculty and residents, developing and implementing, in conjunction with faculty physicians, clinical plans of care and/or protocols for inpatients on the urology service, enhancing quality of patient services and decreasing length of inpatient stay; working actively with hospital and unit staff to rapidly develop and implement discharge plans for inpatients; Outpatient responsibilities (20%): Provide patient care in the outpatient setting and assist the attending physician with post-operative care. This includes pre and post op evaluations, and being available to take patient calls regarding questions; triage and assisting clinic support staff.
