Education: Graduate from an Accredited Physician’s Assistant training program.
Licenses/Certifications: Must be a graduate of a Physician Assistant educational program accredited by The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Educational Programs or its predecessor or successor agency, have passed the certification examination administered by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants NCCPA, have current NCCPA certification and meet other licensure requirements as provided by Oregon State Board of Medical Licensure. Oregon CPR Certification and Advanced Cardiac Life Support ACLS certification are required.
Experience: Minimum of two years experience with relevant experience to conduct activities with the Interventional Radiologists. Familiarity or experience in interventional radiology procedures a plus. Obtain and record patient’s health history, examine patient, perform comprehensive assessment in the outpatient and/or inpatient setting. Determine the need for and initiate diagnostic/screening test and evaluate and report results. Evaluate and document patient’s progress during follow-up or post-procedure assessments. Participates in discharge planning including arranging referrals, prescriptions, and patient education.
Knowledge/Skill/Ability: Required: Knowledge of methods and principles of general medicine, methods of diagnosing and treating medical disorders. Ability to examine, diagnose and recommend treatment of physical diseases and deficiencies; interpret basic diagnostic images and laboratory analyses. Ability to prepare comprehensive case histories. Ability to assist the radiologists in a broad variety of procedures.

Faculty Associate – Clinical Year, Assistant Professor
The Faculty Associate for the clinical year will report to the Director of the Physician Assistant Program. The duties of the position are in support of the mission, goals and objectives of Oregon Health & Science University, the School of Medicine and the Division of Physician Assistant Education.
The Faculty Associate will be a graduate of an accredited physician assistant program, will be current in their national certification from the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and will be eligible for licensure with the Oregon Board of Medical Examiners. - Coordination of an ongoing schedule of periodic site visits to evaluate students on clinical rotation and assure continued appropriateness of clinical sites and the supervision provided by clinical preceptors.
- Coordination of the objective and subjective assessment of clinical year students in meeting the objectives associated with each clinical rotation.
- Coordination of the clinical activities required of first year students (Clinical Practicum) including “mentoring” opportunities with community physicians and PAs and inpatient experiences at OHSU hospitals. This responsibility includes the development and maintenance of quality clinical sites in the Portland Metropolitan area, the faculty development of volunteer mentors and the assignment and scheduling of mentoring activities.
- Evaluation and analysis of data collected by clinical year students reflecting their experiences on clinical rotations.
As a member of the faculty of the PA Program, the Faculty Associate will:
- Serve as an advisor to first and second year students.
- Lecture in areas of expertise.
- Serve as a role model for PA Program faculty, staff and students.
- Represent the PA Program within the OHSU community and statewide medical community.
- Participate in faculty development activities.
- Participate in national, regional and state PA professional organizations.
- Serve as a member of the Progress and Promotions Committee, the Curriculum Committee and the Admissions Committee as assigned by the Program Director.
- Support other PA faculty in other responsibilities as assigned by the Program Director.

Patrick C. McDonald, M.D. is currently recruiting for a PA to join his well-established family practice. Dr. McDonald is a board certified Family Practice Physician with a respected reputation in the community and with a positive, long-term staff. This position will replace an existing PA who is moving. Dr. McDonald encourages the PA to develop a practice and work independently. He is approachable and supportive as needed. The patients are complex in medical needs, which is stimulating and provides an opportunity for a full scope of practice. The practice includes lab and x-ray. Flexible hours. There would be no call.
The ideal candidate will have 6 months to one year of experience and the ability and vision to build a practice.
