I work with my supervising physician in a small independent family practice. We are one of the very few private practices left. Due to various upheavals in the last couple of years, our patient count and income have taken a dip. Now, with the covid 19 situation, the Oregon Health Authority will not allow us to see any patients with respiratory symptoms, and does not want us to see any healthy patients. That doesn't leave very many, and the (struggling) practice can no longer afford my salary, so as of last week, I have been laid off. I think I will get by okay with unemployment and the stimulus check, and expect to get back to work in a month or three.
